The upcoming Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2024/25 season promises an exhilarating journey for ski racing enthusiasts worldwide. Let’s dive into the thrilling proposed calendar the committee recently submitted to the FIS council for a final vote.
Firstly, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, will have center stage for the World Championships, which will run from February 4th to the 16th. Saalbach-Hinterglemm, having successfully hosted the World Cup finals last March, is ready to deliver two weeks of intense competitions filled with excitement and surprises.
The World Cup season starts with the opening weekend in Sölden, Austria, setting the tone during the last weekend of October. The Sölden weekend marks the start of two more weekends of intense competition, during which the Men’s and Women’s tours will share the race venue before heading their separate ways until the World Championships.
Fans of the “Black-Levi” race venue in Levi, Finland, will be thrilled as the men’s slalom tour returns on November 17, immediately after the women’s race.
Another early season highlight is Gurgl, Austria; for the first time, the women will race where the Austrian men’s slalom team swept the podium last winter. The men’s slalom takes place on November 23, followed by the women’s race on November 24.
North America hosts downhill, super-G, and giant slalom races before the new year. Notably, Beaver Creek, Colorado, features a downhill and a super-G for women on the Birds of Prey slope following the men’s weekend.
The World Cup calendar maintains its traditions but makes a few adjustments. Madonna di Campiglio, Italy (M/Night SL), and Courchevel, France (W/Night SL), have shifted to later dates, bringing an exciting twist to the season. Additionally, men’s slalom returns to Alta Badia before the Holidays.
After the 2025 World Championships, attention turns to the 2027 championships in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. This season, the men’s speed disciplines will test the new Swiss course, adding another unique element to the calendar.
Sestriere and La Thuile in Italy return to the women’s calendar on both sides of their Scandinavian races, adding fresh spice to the season.
Lastly, the World Cup finals occur in Sun Valley, USA, from March 22nd to the 27th, culminating in a week-long showcase of ski racing’s best athletes.
In conclusion, the 2024-2025 Audi FIS Ski World Cup promises an exciting blend of tradition, new venues, and intense competitions, ensuring a memorable season for athletes and fans.
