Austrian technical specialist Manuel Feller will return to Austria after the 27-year-old suffered an acute herniated disk in his back during giant slalom training at Copper Mountain, Colorado, on Wednesday.

According to the Austrian Ski Federation, Feller felt a stabbing pain in his back during his training session and was taken to the Stedman Clinic in Vail for an MRI which revealed the injury. Feller will now return to Austria and not compete in this weekend’s World Cup GS in Beaver Creek.

As of Thursday morning, no timetable has been announced for the Austrian’s return to training and competition.
