The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has finalized the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup calendars for the 2026-27 season, setting the stage for another winter of elite racing across Europe and North America. The schedule features 43 men’s World Cup races at 21 venues and 40 women’s World Cup races at 20 venues. In addition, both men and women will contest five medal events, including team combined, at the 2027 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The season will culminate at the World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Idaho, following the midseason championship break in Switzerland.
The season opens with the traditional giant slaloms in Sölden, Austria, on Oct. 24-25 and concludes in Sun Valley, Idaho, March 20-25, where the world’s best skiers will be awarded the Crystal Globes.
According to FIS officials, a central goal in constructing the calendar was achieving a more equitable balance between speed and technical events, ensuring overall contenders from all disciplines have a fair path to the sport’s biggest prize.
Crans-Montana Takes Center Stage
The marquee event of the season will be the 2027 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, scheduled for Feb. 1-14 in the iconic resort of Crans-Montana. The Swiss resort returns to the global spotlight 40 years after hosting the 1987 World Championships and after years of World Cup and European Cup racing.
The championships will split the World Cup season, with athletes shifting focus from crystal globe races to world-title ambitions before returning to the circuit for the season’s final stretch.
North American Presence Remains Strong
North America will once again play a significant role in the early season.
On the men’s side, Copper Mountain, Colorado, returns with a speed and giant slalom weekend in late November before the circuit moves to Beaver Creek, which hosts two downhills, a super-G, and a giant slalom.
For the women, Killington, Vermont, returns to the calendar after a one-year absence, hosting giant slalom and slalom races over Thanksgiving weekend. Canada’s Tremblant, Quebec, again hosts a giant slalom doubleheader, while Beaver Creek welcomes women’s speed racing for a second consecutive season.
In total, North America will host six men’s and seven women’s regular-season World Cup races before the eight Finals races in Sun Valley, Idaho.
New Venues and Notable Returns
Several venues add fresh storylines to the 2026-27 campaign.
For the women, Gosau, Austria, will host World Cup racing for the first time, replacing Lienz and Semmering in the post-Christmas slot. Meanwhile, Jasná, Slovakia, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, return to the women’s calendar.
The men’s circuit features the return of Bormio, Italy, following its role as an Olympic venue during the Milano-Cortina Winter Games, while fan-favorite classics such as Wengen, Kitzbühel, Adelboden, Val Gardena, Alta Badia, and Schladming remain firmly entrenched in the schedule.
Night racing remains one of the defining features of the Alpine World Cup. On the women’s circuit, Courchevel and Flachau will once again host their popular night slaloms, both of which have become annual highlights of the technical calendar. The men’s tour also features a strong lineup of evening races, including the 2026 Alta Badia night slalom and the return of the classic night slaloms in Madonna di Campiglio and Schladming. Fans will also be treated to the hugely popular Schladming night giant slalom, one of the sport’s most iconic events, known for its packed stadium atmosphere and massive crowds.
A Balanced Fight for the Crystal Globe
The men’s calendar includes 10 downhills, 10 super-Gs, 10 giant slaloms, and 13 slaloms, while the women’s schedule features nine downhills, nine super-Gs, 12 giant slaloms, and 10 slaloms. The distribution reflects FIS’s stated effort to balance opportunities for speed and technical specialists alike.
As the countdown to the 2026-27 season begins, the calendar offers a mix of tradition and innovation: iconic classics, emerging venues, expanded North American racing, and a World Championship showdown in Switzerland.
For athletes, teams, and fans, the road to Crans-Montana and Sun Valley is officially set.
