A pair of FIS NorAm Cup downhills were held Monday at Big Mountain, with Canadians Jeffrey Frisch and Kelly McBroom topping the podium.   

WHITEFISH, Montana — A pair of FIS NorAm Cup downhills were held Monday at Big Mountain, with Canadians Jeffrey Frisch and Kelly McBroom topping the podium.    
    For the men, Frisch bested runner-up Erik Fisher (U.S.) by almost half a second. Gareth Sine of Canada placed third. Other members of the U.S. development team included Andrew Weibrecht, who came in fourth, Christopher Beckmann (fifth) and Max Hammer (ninth). Will Brandenburg held on to the top seed, claiming 15th. Frisch has been on a winning streak, with super G wins at Apex, British Columbia, last week. He has seven World Cup starts.
    On the women’s side, the Canadians dominated, claiming the top four placings. McBroom nailed down first, with Sherry Lawrence second and Larisa Yurkiw third. The top American was Leanne Smith in fifth followed by Julia Littman in sixth and World Cup rookie Megan McJames in eighth. It was McBroom’s first win of the season.
