Blaise Giezendanner suffered an injury Saturday morning during super-G training at La Parva, Chile, where the French speed team has been training for two weeks.

SkiChrono.fr reported that he injured the inner ligament in his right knee and will be traveling back to France for recovery, which could take about six weeks. If that recovery timeline is correct, Giezendanner will be back in time for the beginning of the World Cup speed season at Lake Louise, Canada, in late November.

Giezendanner’s best result last season as a 14th-place finish in the super-G at World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and he matched that result at World Cup Finals in Aspen, Colo. The French World Cup skier is also the national downhill champion.
