Goodman Clinches 2013/2014 World Cup Start
The top-two North American Cup finishers in each event earn World Cup starts, and with today’s win, Anna Goodman’s point margin guaranteed her a position for every World Cup race next season. She seems to be an unstoppable force in slalom right now, as today marked her eighth straight slalom win in the last eight FIS slaloms she has entered.
The podium in today’s race looked awfully similar to yesterday; the Canadian men swept all three spots again, and Anna Goodman won the women’s race with Resi Stiegler in 2nd. The only podium change from yesterday was Kristine Haugen from DU standing on the third step of the women’s race. “I was super happy with my second run, I had a little mistake but I was just giving it my best and it worked out. I’m having a pretty good season so far, so I’m going to try to keep doing the same thing and having fun,” said Haugen.
Stiegler, who is battling a cold, matched her performance from yesterday almost exactly. Both yesterday and today she finished 6th on the first run, then dominated second runs to finish 2nd overall. “It was kind of the same as yesterday, I guess I was just a little sleepy on the first run, and then I was angry, and did what I wanted to do on the second run… so now I just need to work on putting two of those together” said Stiegler. 
On the men’s side, Paul Stutz, Michael Janyk, and Phil Brown all celebrate repeat performances from yesterday. Stutz pulled out pocket sixes (scoring two 6.0 FIS results), and proved he is skiing fast going into World Championships next month. “Definitely awesome, once again it was a battle and everyone was really close on the first run, so I had to man up and put everything together, but to do it back-to-back really proves I’m skiing well and so I’m really happy” said Stutz.
