Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen was one of the most sought-after athletes on the ski transfer market in the summer of 2022. After leaving Rossignol, the technical specialist signed with VanDeer-Red Bull Sports, the brand developed by Marcel Hirscher. Expectations were high on both sides—and early results delivered.
Over the past several months, however, that relationship showed signs of strain. Kristoffersen increasingly voiced criticism in TV interviews, at times pointing directly to equipment concerns. Now, the split has become official.
“Together we celebrated our first victory, our first World Championship gold, our first slalom crystal globe, and our first Olympic bronze. We are proud of everything we have achieved together and grateful for the journey. Now it’s time for a new chapter,” Kristoffersen and VanDeer-Red Bull Sports said in a joint Instagram post.
“The decision to end the collaboration now was not easy for us. We have jointly come to the conviction that it is the right decision because it will give us all new impetus and perspectives,” Kristoffersen added in a VanDeer press release.
VanDeer COO Toni Giger emphasized Kristoffersen’s impact, noting the Norwegian played a key role in helping the brand establish itself quickly on the World Cup circuit.
Strong Results, Despite Growing Tension
Kristoffersen remained highly competitive through the 2025–26 season. He claimed Olympic bronze in the slalom in Bormio, won the World Cup slalom in Schladming, and added four more slalom podiums along with two in giant slalom.
He finished fifth in the overall World Cup standings, ranking fourth in slalom and seventh in giant slalom.
What Comes Next?
According to skinews.ch, Kristoffersen has already tested skis from at least one other brand—HEAD. Sources within the ski racing world suggest those tests went well, raising the likelihood of a switch ahead of the next Olympic cycle.
A move would place Kristoffersen among the growing list of high-profile “free agents” on the equipment market.
Elsewhere, movement is already underway. Stöckli confirmed Alexis Monney’s contract extension on March 31, while other athletes could be considering changes. Reports indicate Lara Colturi (ALB) has tested both VanDeer and HEAD, and Zan Kranjec (SLO) may also be evaluating his options.
