Leadership Opportunity Within One of Canada’s Largest Regional Alpine Systems

The Laurentian Ski Division is seeking an experienced alpine leader to help shape the next phase of athlete development within a highly established regional alpine environment.

Located in the Laurentians near Montreal, the organization oversees a strong network of 15 ski clubs and leads the regional high-performance program through Équipe Élite Division Laurentienne de Ski.

With approximately 1,700 athletes across its network, the Laurentian region represents one of the largest alpine development systems in Canada and one of the most significant regional ski communities in North America. This scale creates a unique leadership opportunity with direct influence on athlete development, coaching standards, and long-term regional performance.

The Laurentians also offer an exceptional quality of life, with a strong ski culture, direct mountain access, extensive cycling and mountain biking networks, countless lakes, and a year-round outdoor lifestyle.


Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Alpine Director provides leadership across the regional alpine development system.

Working closely with club head coaches, athletes, and provincial partners, the successful candidate will help shape priorities, guide athlete progression, and support the continued evolution of the regional high-performance environment.

This role calls for both strategic vision and strong field credibility in alpine ski racing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the regional alpine development strategy

  • Support athlete development through long-term development principles
  • Guide talent identification initiatives across categories
  • Contribute to the evolution of the regional high-performance program
  • Support coaching collaboration and leadership across the region

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will bring strong credibility in alpine ski racing and the leadership required to work effectively within a collaborative sport environment.

  • High-performance coaching or sport leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of athlete development pathways
  • Proven ability to build relationships across a sport system
  • Strategic mindset with strong field awareness
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree
  • Significant experience in alpine ski racing or high-performance sport leadership
  • NCCP Level 4 / FCS Level 3 Performance
  • Strong French oral and written communication skills

Position Details

  • Full-time position
  • Salary: Starting at CAD $85,000 depending on experience
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Partial remote work possible
  • Travel expenses covered
