Position Overview
Mount Mansfield Academy (MMA) is seeking FIS Coaches to lead the daily training environment and competitive development of FIS and Post-Graduate alpine athletes. This role centers on on-snow leadership, athlete progression, and program execution, working within the broader direction of MMA leadership. The FIS Coach plays a key role in delivering a structured, high-performance training system that supports both athletic and academic success.
Core Responsibilities
On-Snow Leadership
- Lead daily on-snow training sessions across technical and speed disciplines
- Set training environments that emphasize quality, repetition, and progression
- Manage group structure, lane use, and session flow
- Deliver clear, consistent technical coaching and feedback
Athlete Development
- Support and implement individual athlete development plans
- Track athlete progress across technical, physical, and competitive areas
- Utilize video analysis and feedback tools to reinforce development
- Guide athletes in equipment setup and race preparation
Training and Competition
- Assist in planning and executing training blocks, camps, and race schedules
- Travel with athletes to competitions and provide race-day coaching and support
- Prepare athletes for inspection, tactics, and performance execution
- Maintain alignment between training objectives and race performance
Team Culture and Standards
- Contribute to a focused, accountable, and positive team environment
- Reinforce expectations around effort, behavior, and professionalism
- Build strong, appropriate relationships with athletes
- Support a culture of continuous improvement
Collaboration
- Work closely with MMA leadership and coaching staff to ensure program alignment
- Communicate effectively with athletes, staff, and families
- Collaborate with strength and conditioning and academic staff as needed
Program Support
- Assist with training operations, including equipment, timing, and setup
- Support travel logistics and daily organization while on the road
- Contribute to athlete evaluations and seasonal reviews
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing program development
Qualifications
- Experience coaching FIS-level alpine athletes (U18/U21/PG)
- Strong technical knowledge of alpine skiing
- Understanding of strength and conditioning integration
- Ability to deliver clear, effective coaching in a high-performance environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to both take direction and lead
- Familiarity with US Ski & Snowboard competition pathways preferred
