With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Tiania Tutt Adams, a long-time Alpine Ski coach and former US Ski Team member. She left us on July 26, 2024, at her family home on Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. Born in Michigan and raised in Colorado and Vermont, Tiania was a true skiing phenom from her earliest days at Ski Broadmoor, and her passion for the sport never waned.

Tiania’s journey in skiing was nothing short of extraordinary. After she graduated from Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont, the US Ski Team named her to the team in 1978. She skied competitively at CU Boulder before joining the Women’s Pro Tour. Upon retiring from competition, Tiania devoted over 40 years to coaching, influencing countless young racers from Colorado to Vermont. Her coaching career began in Summit County, Colorado, and flourished after her marriage to fellow ski coach Charlie Adams. Together, they co-founded the Mt. Mansfield Ski Academy in Stowe, Vermont, and created 45 North Camps for developing athletes.

After returning to Colorado to be closer to family and support her children’s skiing careers, Tiania continued to inspire young skiers with her expertise, coaching for Team Summit, Summit High School, Team Monarch, Ski Club Vail, and ultimately the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club. Throughout her career, Tiania made significant contributions to Alpine ski racing at all levels and ages. She was the coach every athlete and parent dreams of—talented, nurturing, insightful and fun. Tiania’s exceptional kindness touched everyone she met.

In the final year of her esteemed coaching career, Tiania had the unique and cherished opportunity to work with her beloved granddaughter, Spring. This special time was a fitting conclusion to her remarkable journey in ski coaching, leaving behind a legacy of love, passion, and dedication to the sport she adored.

Tiania’s mother, Kay Servatius, and father, William Thayer Tutt, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Charlie; her children, Colby and Duncan Adams; her grandchildren, Spring and Olen; her siblings, Michael Tutt, Chelle Tutt Mason, and Elizabeth Zimmerman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
