In the third episode of the Top 10 series, Matt Garcka and Alan Rigg welcome FIS TV and TNT Sports commentator Ian Findlay back to the show.

In this episode, the greats of the Men’s World Cup, Olympics, and World Championship giant slalom in alpine ski racing were discussed. Ian, Alan, and Matt analyzed older legends of the discipline, such as Gustavo Thöni and Ingemar Stenmark, who dominated throughout the seventies and into the eighties, including their legendary battle in a 1975 parallel event in Madonna di Campiglio.

They also discussed the many modern greats in the discipline, names like Ted Ligety, Marcel Hirscher, Alexis Pinturault, Henrik Kristoffersen, and Marco Odermatt, who have dominated the past 15 to 20 years across all competitions, each showcasing excellence through their own distinct and exceptional styles.

Matt and Alan also gave Ian the chance to speak highly of Michael von Grünigen, and you’ll find out where he managed to slide him into his list. Plus, Alan shares his thoughts on why Marco Odermatt hasn’t cracked his all-time top five rankings just yet and how the competition in the discipline is heating up for the seasons ahead.

This is the third episode in the top ten series on the Skiing is Believing Podcast. All three episodes have been produced in different ways, and this one was based on Ian’s list as we counted down from ten to one, so for any feedback, please reach out to him using IanFindlayTV@gmail.com.
