In the first episode of the Next Gen series on the Skiing is Believing podcast, Alan Rigg and Matt Garcka chatted with the Canadian rising star, Jesse Kertesz-Knight.

Jesse discusses the first time that he skied at Jasper, Marmot Basin, Alberta, the resort that he skied for until he was a U16. Marmot Basin is a resort that’s also near and dear to Alan as it was one of his favorite places to ski. It was clear that Marmot Basin was important to Jesse in his upbringing and still is today as his head sponsor.

In-depth, Jesse shared his reflections on the 2024-2025 season. During this standout season, he scored his first Europa Cup points, won two Nor-Am Cup races, and made his World Cup debut in Kranjska Gora, a dream he’s had for many years.

Matt, Alan, and Jesse also chatted about the current situation with Alpine Canada and specifically the situation with the men’s technical team; however, the group was together recently on a camp in Saas Fee.

Matt and Alan ask Jesse about his career goals, not only for the upcoming season but also for the entirety of his life in skiing. Jesse has hopes to hit the heights that many of his compatriots and idols have gotten to.
