Joint declaration by Jan Tischhauser (FIS) and Gianni Poncet (Competition manager TOROC)
After two years of joint work and after the two races, yesterday and today, we can state that the Olympic Fraiteve piste is adequate for the Ladies’ speed events, as approved by FIS in December 2004.
The course is 3,200 metres in length and has a vertical drop of 800 metres, making the course the longest in the world. Twenty five technical turns that adapt to the profile of the mountain, together with the first and middle part of the slope, creates a course that ensures the athletes are tested to the best of their ability and makes the technical errors of the skiers visible. Yesterday and today’s results have shown that the strongest athletes were the main contenders in the respective disciplines.
During the summer there will be additional work on the terrain, making the landing zones of the jumps steeper to ensure more spectacular jumps before the finish line. Changes will also be made to the middle section of the course to make it more undulating.
