Frehsner spearheaded the Swiss teams of the 1980’s, in particular  with Pirmin Zurbriggen, Peter Mueller and Franz Heinzer. That trio alone won 82 World Cup races and a dozen World Championship medals. Gut has one World Cup win and two silver medals from this past season.

“For our team Karl’s enormous know-how is a gigantic profit,” Gut’s father and team manager Pauli told Blick.

The team will still seek a full time successor to coach Mauro Pini who left the team three weeks ago. Frehsner will work with Gut during the preparation period.
