Situated at the base of Killington Resort, Killington Mountain School (KMS) is a NEASC-accredited college preparatory independent school for student-athletes in grades 6–12. KMS combines rigorous academics with elite training in alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle moguls, freeskiing, and downhill mountain biking.

The Opportunity

Killington Mountain School is seeking a motivated, highly organized, and relationship-driven Director of Admissions to lead enrollment and recruitment efforts across the school’s academic and athletic programs.

This full-time leadership role focuses on managing the admissions process from inquiry through enrollment while creating a personalized and responsive experience for prospective and returning families. The Director of Admissions will serve as the primary point of contact throughout the enrollment process and work closely with school leadership, coaches, faculty, and community partners to strengthen recruitment and retention efforts.

The position also oversees enrollment for Full Term, Winter Term, BOOST, and camp programs while helping build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full admissions process from inquiry through enrollment
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and returning families
  • Guide families through admissions, renewal, and retention processes with proactive communication and follow-up
  • Manage and advance the admissions pipeline while maintaining organization throughout the process
  • Represent KMS at competitions, recruitment events, and outreach opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with feeder programs, coaches, and community partners
  • Manage financial aid processes alongside school leadership
  • Oversee enrollment for Full Term, Winter Term, BOOST, and camp programs
  • Maintain accurate admissions CRM records and track enrollment metrics
  • Collaborate with faculty, coaches, and staff to support enrollment and retention goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated success in admissions, enrollment management, sales, or a related field
  • Independent school experience strongly preferred
  • Experience within competitive alpine ski racing, freeskiing, freestyle moguls, snowboarding, and/or downhill mountain biking is a plus
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently
  • Strong professional judgment and attention to detail
  • Comfortable engaging with families, coaches, and partners across a variety of settings
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks and obtain a Vermont State Type II Bus License upon hiring
