As of May 1, Tom Sell will return to KMS as alpine athletic director. He will be joined by Christine Feehan, who will serve as a women’s coach beginning in July.
According to Smith, Sell will oversee all aspects of the alpine program working closely with individual coaches and athletes. Sell has been with the U.S. Ski Team for the past four years in a variety of coaching positions including as Europa Cup head men’s technical coach, as the men’s development team head coach and as a slalom and GS coach with the World Cup team.
Sell had a previous stint at KMS and has also held coaching positions at Gould Academy and Stratton Mountain School.
“One of the things I am looking forward to most on returning to KMS is the opportunity to work with the most enthusiastic and hard working community I have met,” Sell said. “The staff and athletes at KMS are truly special, and I am very happy for my family and I to become part of that community.”
Sell and his wife, Mary, have two children; Peter, age 7 and Maria, age 5.
Feehan brings an extensive educational and athletic background to her position. She holds a B.A. in History magna cum laude from Skidmore College, an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College, and has completed coursework toward a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership at the University of Vermont. She has experience as an alpine coach and humanities instructor at Burke Mountain Academy and Sugar Bowl Academy. As an undergraduate, she captained the Skidmore College Alpine Ski Team. She coached with the Ford Sayre Ski Council before moving on to a teaching and coaching post at Colby-Sawyer College. In her spare time, Christine enjoys competitive cycling, soccer, ice hockey, and freelance writing.
“I am thrilled to join the staff at Killington Mountain School and look forward to making positive contributions to the institution both academically and athletically,” Feehan said. “I am excited to work with the women’s alpine team and am delighted to have the opportunity to continue my participation in Vermont ski racing with such a promising club.”
