Swiss skier Patrick Kueng got his season, and that of the Europa Cup circuit, off to a blazing start. Kueng went first and second in a pair of EC super G’s at Reiteralm, Austria Nov. 9 and 10.

Petr Zahrobsky of the Czech Republic got the other win, but despite not registering a win the Austrians controlled the events.

Kueng shaded Austrian Philipp Schoerghofer for the Monday race win while Great Britain got a boost from Edward Drake in third. The Austrians pushed four skiers into the top seven with Florian Scheiber in fourthm Stephan Goergl sixth and Joachim Puchner seventh.

In the Tuesday event the Austrians got one better from team mark from Monday with five in the top seven. Kuneg was second, Goergl third, Hannes Reichelt was fifth, Schoerghofer sixth and Puchner seventh. Ivica Kostelic of Croatia posted fourth.
