New Documentary Film “La Roche”

A short portrait film documentary on the ascend and battle of Marc Rochat into the elite level of World Cup slalom skiing.

His career was not meant to be a walk in the park, quite the opposite. Yet, Marc Rochat forged a determination to confront any challenges in his path to compete among the world’s best athletes in the sport of Slalom Skiing. Marc gives us a taste of what it means to build mental resilience and, most importantly, to never give up.

It’s the story of an underdog – an athlete who, despite all odds, fought his way into the Swiss national team. The documentary film “La Roche” offers an unfiltered look behind the scenes into the career of Swiss slalom skier Marc Rochat. The film depicts how Rochat, with his unique style and unconventional approach, always has one goal in mind: to be faster than everyone else and to prove to everyone that he belongs on the team. Along the way, he faces many setbacks, particularly numerous injuries that take a toll on his time and strength. Despite concerns from doctors, family, and friends, Rochat remains undeterred, showcasing incredible perseverance.

Additionally, there’s the pressure of maintaining his place in an extremely strong slalom team.His profound statement “Le jour j’ai accepté de perdre ma carrière, j’ai gagné ma nouvelle vie” (“The day I accepted to lose my career, Igained my new life”) illustrates Rochat’s determination and marks a turning point in his career. The documentary “LaRoche” is an inspiring narrative of endurance and tenacity, but also about the ability to view competition from a different perspective and rediscover skiing anew.
