Australia’s Harry Laidlaw went three-for-three, winning his third consecutive GS HomeLight Foundation Series NorAm with a home-hill advantage. After a five-day series at Whiteface Mountain, the men relocated to Burke Mountain for two days of tech. Just off his first NorAm wins, Laidlaw took the top spot again for one final confidence-booster before traveling back to Europe for the Europa Cup circuit. 

Growing up skiing in Australia, Laidlaw joined Burke Mountain Academy in his high school years. Returning to Burke felt like his second home. 

“The day was good,” said Laidlaw. “First run I had a couple mistakes and the race was very tight so I knew I had to show my best skiing in the second run. I just trusted my skiing from last week and it paid off.”

Laidlaw came out with confidence in his first run and despite mistakes, barely edged out British Alpine team skier Charlie Raposo by 0.01 seconds. Trusting his skiing paid off as he pulled ahead of Raposo in the second run to extend his win by 1.18 seconds. 

U.S. Ski Team member Isaiah Nelson rounded out the podium in third. He sat fourth after the first, 0.26 seconds off Laidlaw and behind Alpine Canada’s Riley Seger. Nelson overtook for third as Seger fell into 17th for the run. Just off the podium was Fabian Ax Swartz of Sweden, whose second run was second fastest behind Laidlaw and moved up nine positions from his first run. 

The men return to Burke Mountain for slalom Tuesday.
