The North American Rockies continue to shine as hosts of exceptional early-season races. As reported last week, Beaver Creek is looking excellent. However, next week, the men’s first speed events are in Lake Louise, Canada. They have done it again by preparing a perfect venue.

The schedule has the men starting the first of three training opportunities on Tuesday, the 22nd of November. The first race is downhill on Friday, the 25th. Super-G is in the plan for both the 26th and 27th.

After a rough start with cancelations in central Europe, Finland and Canada are providing the World Cup races as scheduled.

Don’t forget, concerning US viewers, the Levi and Lake Louise World Cups are available live and replay on Ski and Snowboard Live. This service provides full content from Canada and Europe except for the events in Austria.

This looks like Lake Louise’s last year as a World Cup host for the foreseeable future. The event started 42 years ago as a last-minute makeup race. It was hosted on only a month’s notice. Consequently, It went a long way to convincing the IOC that Calgary could host the Winter Olympics. Since that first race, there has not been any doubt of their hosting abilities.

More importantly, It has significantly contributed to North American alpine racing. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness it one more time and celebrate “The Lake.”
