The final races of the Northwest Funds Coupe Nor-Am Cup at Lake Louise Ski Area were postponed this morning after heavy snowfall hit the area overnight. A super-G was scheduled to conclude the three days of racing that follow the FIS World Cup at Lake Louise each season.
There was no official word on when it will be rescheduled.
“The course crew worked on the track from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. last night. Unfortunately at around 1:30 a.m. a storm came in and bringing down about 30 cm of snow. The jury along with the various coaching staffs made the decision at about 8:30 a.m. to postpone due to the amount of snow on the race course and the work that was needed to get it back to race mode,” said ACA Director of National Programs and Race Events Philippe Bernier.
“We want to thank the athletes, coaches, and especially the volunteers for all of the work they did on the Northwest Funds Coupe Nor-Am Cup in Lake Louise. Now we are turning our attention to putting on some great technical races in Panorama starting on Sunday,” Bernier added.
The top two North American ski racers in each discipline receive World Cup spots in that discipline the following season while the top two overall get World Cup spots in all disciplines.
The Northwest Funds Coupe Nor-Am Cup presented by Continental Tire continues with men’s and ladies super combined, giant slalom and super-G races in Panorama, BC beginning Sunday.
