BISCHOSHOFEN, Austria — France’s Jason Lamy Chappuis captured victory in the last competition in the FIS nordic combined Summer Grand Prix in Bischofshofen, Austria, on Sunday. Austria’s David Kreiner, who finished second on his home turf, claimed the top spot in the SGP ranking. With three victories, one second and one sixth place during the five-race series, the 26-year-old collected a total of 370 points, 28 more than Lamy Chappuis, who had 332 points. Germany’s Björn Kircheisen (236 points) ended up third. Kreiner earned CHF 11'500 in prize money.
American Bill Demong was 17th in Bischofshofen.
Austria’s Wilhelm Denifl held the lead after the jumping competition ahead of Janne Ryynänen of Finland and teammate Bernhard Gruber. Chappuis was in fifth place, 24 seconds behind the leader and two seconds behind David Kreiner, who had led the SGP ranking since his first victory in the second competition in Steinbach-Hallenberg/Oberhof.
In the 15 km individual Gundersen competition, Denifl had to let both Lamy Chappuis and Kreiner ahead of him. The inline skating race was held on a difficult 2.5 km loop that included some steep passages, requiring not only good endurance but also technical ability.
