Head officially announced that Lindsey Vonn will be a part of its Race Team for the next five years, skiing on Head skis, boots and bindings.

The contract will wrap up following the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Before switching to Head, Vonn skied on Rossignol virtually her entire race career. The Head Race Team now consists of the world’s top three female racers. Vonn’s best friend and the No. 2 female skier in the world, Maria Riesch of Germany, also skis on Head, as does Sweden’s Anja Paerson.

“I am very excited to join the Head Race Team,” said Vonn, who is currently testing Head downhill and super G skis at a U.S. Ski Team camp in Portillo, Chile. “In an extremely competitive race environment I wanted to be part of the most competitive race team.”
Naturally, Head is thrilled to have the world’s No. 1 racer on board.

“I am very pleased that Lindsey has decided to join our race team,” Head CEO Johan Eliasch said. “She is a very exciting personality and phenomenal performer. Alongside Maria and Anja we will now have a line up of racers which is second to none.”

Legendary racers Herman Maier, Didier Cuche and Bode Miller also ski on Head’s race team.

“You need top athletes to ensure the right development also in terms of race equipment,” Head Race Team manager Rainer Salzgeber said. “The fact that we have so many good racers on our race team is an absolute proof of trust and confidence in our work of the past few years.”

As most people know, Vonn has won the Overall World Cup for two consecutive seasons, took the downhill globe for the second time last season and also landed the super G globe. She won world championship gold in downhill and super G and with 22 World Cup wins, is the most successful female ski racer of all time.
