Mammoth Invitational set to support young racers
Some of the U.S. Ski Team’s top guns aren’t waiting for the dust, or volcanic ash, to settle at the U.S. Alpine Championships before flying to Mammoth California to participate in the Mammoth Invitational, March 3-5.
The event is a new, fund-raising effort to benefit the junior athletes of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team. The three-day event will offer serious racing and fun contests and activities for all skiers. The U.S. Ski Team’s Stacey Cook, Steven Nyman, Erik Fisher and Daron Rahlves will be on hand at the inaugural event to act as team captains.
In addition to races, attendees will have the chance to enjoy award diners and live/silent auctions.
The five member teams will be made up of four amateurs and one pro/coach assigned by MMST. Each team will represent a country, using its name and flag.
The race will consist of two runs down a dual giant slalom. Each racer will have a handicap based on their skill level.
