Kicking off their summer series, the Skiing is Believing podcast, hosted by grandfather-grandson duo Matt Garcka and Alan Rigg, chatted with Norwegian tech star Mina Fuerst Holtmann in their first episode.
She spoke of her consistency over the course of the 2024/25 season, with a season’s best result of eighth position in the last race. Holtmann shared in this episode that the high level of consistency that she found across giant slalom and slalom in the season is something she’s been searching for.
Holtmann also told us about growing up as a ski racer in a popular ski racing country like Norway and her route to the World Cup tour. Mina came through with the Baerums SkiKlub, which has produced several World Cup winners.
She also discussed the current strength of both the women’s and men’s Norwegian teams ahead of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics, where Mina hopes to become the third Norwegian woman to win an Olympic alpine ski racing medal.
Holtmann also spoke in depth about her mentality going into races and the importance of enjoying the process of ski racing even as the oldest member of the Norwegian women’s team. She turns 30 next month but is keen to accomplish more goals.
The episode was concluded with Matt’s quick-fire questions. He asked Mina about her favorite resort, the best moment of her career, and one thing she wants to achieve in the 2025/26 Olympic season.
