McCall, Idaho — McCall Winter Sports Club (MWSC) is seeking an experienced, passionate, and energetic U14 Head Coach to lead its U14 Alpine Race Program and help develop the next generation of ski racers and mountain athletes.
Located in the heart of Idaho’s mountains, MWSC provides athletes with the unique opportunity to train across Tamarack Resort, Brundage Mountain Resort, and Little Ski Hill, creating one of the most diverse training environments in the Intermountain Division.
With a mission of “Creating World Class Kids Through Winter Sports,” MWSC strives to help athletes reach their highest level in ski racing while measuring success through the confidence, resilience, sportsmanship, and character they develop along the way.
The U14 Head Coach will play a key leadership role in the alpine program by creating a positive, challenging, and athlete-centered environment that inspires young racers to improve every day. Working closely with the Program Director and coaching staff, this individual will oversee athlete development, seasonal planning, race preparation, coach leadership, and communication with families while helping shape the culture of one of Idaho’s fastest-growing ski clubs.
This position is ideal for a coach who loves developing young athletes, mentoring assistant coaches, embracing modern coaching methods, and creating a fun, high-energy team environment.
Position Responsibilities
Athlete Development
- Lead all aspects of the U14 training program using long-term athlete development principles.
- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and seasonal training plans.
- Develop athletes’ technical, tactical, physical, and mental skills both in and out of the gates.
- Utilize free skiing, drills, video analysis, and purposeful training environments to maximize athlete progression.
- Create individualized development goals and provide regular athlete feedback throughout the season.
- Promote a culture built around fun, effort, accountability, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Monitor athlete progress and assist qualified athletes in pursuing divisional and regional opportunities.
- Support athletes with equipment selection and maintenance.
Coaching Leadership
- Lead and mentor assistant coaches while fostering a collaborative coaching environment.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional training atmosphere.
- Coordinate lane space, daily training plans, and race preparation.
- Assist with race travel, competition logistics, and athlete management.
- Help organize camps, club races, and special events throughout the season.
- Participate in course setting, race preparation, and volunteer leadership during MWSC-hosted events.
Communication & Family Engagement
- Build positive relationships with athletes, parents, volunteers, and fellow coaches.
- Communicate training schedules, expectations, competition plans, and athlete progress throughout the season.
- Support parent education and help families navigate athlete development and race opportunities.
- Represent McCall Winter Sports Club with professionalism both on and off the hill.
Program Support
- Work collaboratively with the Program Director on seasonal planning and program growth.
- Assist with equipment inventory and recommendations for future purchases.
- Attend coach meetings, training camps, and continuing education opportunities.
- Help foster a positive club culture across all age groups and disciplines.
Qualifications
- Previous alpine ski racing coaching experience, preferably with U14, U16, or FIS athletes.
- Strong understanding of long-term athlete development and modern coaching techniques.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor young athletes.
- Current U.S. Ski & Snowboard coaching membership and certifications (or ability to obtain).
- Current SafeSport, CPR, and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain).
- Willingness to travel throughout the Intermountain race season.
- Ability to ski at a high level in all mountain conditions.
Compensation & Benefits
McCall Winter Sports Club offers a competitive seasonal compensation package ranging from $30,000–$50,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a seasonal position running approximately October 1 through April 15.
In addition to compensation, the U14 Head Coach will receive season passes to Tamarack Resort, Brundage Mountain Resort, and Little Ski Hill, providing access to three exceptional training venues in one of the premier ski communities in the West.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative coaching team dedicated to athlete development, professional growth, and creating a positive, high-energy environment for athletes and coaches alike.
