The women’s 2014 World Cup GS in Are. GEPA

Due to a lack of snow and cold enough temperatures to produce manmade snow in time for next week’s World Cup races in Val d’Isere and Courchevel, France, the FIS has announced a relocation for both the men’s and women’s events to Are, Sweden.

The men and women were originally scheduled to race giant slalom and slalom Dec. 13-14, but organizers had to get creative with the new schedule in Are since both genders will utilize the same venue. The women’s GS will take place on Friday morning (10 a.m. local time) while the men will race a night GS starting at 4 p.m. local time. The women’s slalom will follow on Saturday (9:30 a.m. local time) and the men race slalom on Sunday (10:30 a.m. local time).

The next World Cup races in Europe are the speed events scheduled in Val d’Isere, France (women), and Val Gardena, Italy (men), starting Dec. 17.
