“Mik 100 Reset the Sport” to Support Youth Skiing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Feb. 23, 2025) – Mikaela Shiffrin reached a historic milestone with her 100th World Cup victory in Sestriere, Italy. Instead of keeping the spotlight on herself, the greatest alpine skier of all time is using the moment to give back. She announced a new initiative, “MIK100: Reset the Sport,” in partnership with Share Winter Foundation, aiming to raise $100,000 to help youth learn to ski and snowboard.

Giving Back Through “MIK100”

Shiffrin, who won her first World Cup race at 16, continues to redefine greatness at 29. While her records set new standards in ski racing, she wants her impact to extend beyond the sport.

“Winning 100 races is incredible, but I want this moment to be about something bigger than me,” Shiffrin said. “Helping Share Winter bring more kids to the mountains makes this victory one of the most meaningful.”

Share Winter works with resorts, brands, and community organizations to remove financial barriers, making skiing accessible to more children. Every dollar raised through “MIK100” will fund skiing and snowboarding opportunities, with $100,000 covering costs for 200 youth.

Shiffrin’s Commitment to Expanding Access

This initiative builds on Shiffrin’s longstanding dedication to philanthropy. In honor of her late father, she co-founded the Jeff Shiffrin Athlete Resiliency Fund, raising more than $3.7 million to support U.S. Ski Team athletes.

She formally announced her ambassadorship with Share Winter before the World Cup season opener in Sölden, Austria, posting:

“Not everyone is blessed with the good fortune I’ve had. Over the years, the lack of accessibility in winter sports has funneled us into a very not diverse community. I love this sport, but I can’t help but wonder how much stronger it could be if we helped Share Winter with everyone, rather than just those who have the means, access, or background to support it.”

Corporate Partners Rally Behind the Cause

Several of Shiffrin’s sponsors are stepping up to help her reach the $100,000 goal. Ikon Pass will match donations up to $50,000, while Shiffrin personally kick-started the campaign with a $10,000 donation. She also challenged her sponsors—including Barilla, Stifel, Visa, and Killington Ski Resort—to match her contribution.

Brands such as Adidas, Atomic, Leki, Longines, Oakley, and Reusch will auction exclusive MIK100 items through the Share Winter website. New items will be released throughout the season, culminating at the World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Creating a Lasting Legacy

Shiffrin hopes her legacy will be more than just race wins.

“Sports have shaped my life, both mentally and physically, beyond just competing,” she said. “Legacy is about the impact we leave on people and the world around us.”

Constance Beverley, CEO of Share Winter Foundation, praised Shiffrin’s vision.

“It’s not the win that makes her the greatest—it’s her understanding of what the win could mean. She’s using this milestone to create opportunities for the next generation. That’s what resets the sport.”
