Dave Gregory, former program director and head coach of the Mount Washington Valley Ski Team (MWVST), has joined Mount Snow Academy (MSA) in a new role as the Director of Athletics and Recruitment. Gregory brings an extensive background in alpine ski racing including director and head coach roles at Dartmouth College, Holderness School and the Southern District Ski Association of Queenstown, New Zealand to MSA.

Dave GregoryAs Mount Snow Academy’s director of athletics and recruitment, Gregory will be responsible for the leadership of MSA’s competitive on snow programs of alpine ski racing, freeskiing, and snowboarding. Gregory will also work closely with the head of school to drive new student-athlete recruitment.

“We are pleased to welcome Dave to the Mount Snow Academy community,” said Todd Ormiston, head of school at MSA. “Dave’s extensive coaching background and leadership throughout the alpine skiing community will enable MSA to continue to expand our exceptional athletic program for all of our snow sport athletes. As a winter sports academy for elite ski racers, competitive freeskiers and snowboarders, MSA’s vision is to produce champions both on and off the mountain. Dave clearly knows what it takes to produce a champion on the mountain. What makes him unique, and a great fit for MSA, is his appreciation for the growth of our students as individuals through their participation in competitive snow sports.”

Since joining MWVST in 1986, Gregory helped develop a thriving community asset for the Mount Washington Valley. While at MWVST, the program was named the United States Ski Association’s Alpine Club of the Year in 2012. Elite alumni include two-time Olympian and current U.S. Ski Team member Leanne Smith, along with several former members of the U.S. Ski Team, and NCAA All-Americans.

“I am honored to have been selected for this new role at Mount Snow Academy and I’m excited by the opportunity to work with the board, staff, athletes and MSA parents,” Gregory said. “I am proud to embrace this community and look forward to the challenge of developing our young and talented athletes to their highest level. It is extremely important to me that our entire MSA staff works closely together to move our program forward.”

MSA is a winter sports academy for elite ski racers, competitive freeskiers, and snowboarders, whose home training sites include Mount Snow, Carinthia Parks and Hermitage Club. MSA’s alumni boast multiple national team placements, Olympians, Olympic medalists and collegiate athletes. The MSA winter term tutorial program allows passionate skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to pursue their athletic dreams in the winter while maintaining their school and home life the fall and the spring.
