STOWE, VT: Mt. Mansfield Academy (MMA) welcomes alpine ski coach Mike Day as  Director of Athlete Development. Most recently, Mike was a coach on the U.S. Ski Team  working directly with Mikaela Shiffrin, the most successful skier in the history of World  Cup alpine ski racing. Mike was Mikaela’s coach for 65 of her current 88 World Cup  wins. Previously, he also coached U.S. Olympians Bode Miller and Ted Ligety. Mike  brings with him over 25 years of ski racing experience, having taught and mentored  junior racers as well as athletes at the highest echelons of the sport. 

In his position at MMA, Mike will coach student-athletes in every age group, as well as  help guide the development of the coaching staff. A resident of Stowe, Vermont, Mike is  excited to have the opportunity to join MMA and work directly in the community that he  loves, helping to develop MMA’s team of over 260 student-athletes.  

Mike began his coaching career in Maine before joining the U.S. Ski Team during the  2002 Olympics. Mike then moved to Vermont before again joining the U.S. Ski Team as  Mikaela Shiffrin’s primary coach.

After working for years with the U.S. National Team,  I am eager to bring my experience with athlete development to competitive junior racers  in Vermont. I look forward to working in Stowe and calling the challenging and technical  trail “Main Street” home, training student-athletes on the best ski mountain in the east.” 

Mt. Mansfield Academy, located in Stowe, Vermont, is an educational institution offering  6th through 12th grade Full-Time and Winter-Term enrollment, supporting elite junior  alpine ski racers as they train and compete internationally.
