Today (Dec. 18) France’s Jason Lamy Chappuis won a nordic combined World Cup in Seefeld, Austria for the third consecutive day. On Friday, he won the team sprint together with Sebastien Lacroix. He was in front of Japan’s Akito Watabe yesterday, and today he edged out Italian Alessandro Pittin to win his 18th career World Cup competition.

Third place went to Joergen Graabak; the 20-year-old Norwegian celebrated the first podium  place in his tenth World Cup appearance.

During the cross-country race, the leading group was large and in the fourth and final lap, Pittin tried to break away. Only Lamy Chappuis was able to match the pace of the Italian.

“Three victories in three days is something unbelievable,” said Lamy Chappuis. “Even the  quest for the overall World Cup is open. There are a lot of competitions to come.”

Finishing seventh, American Bryan Fletcher earned his career best World Cup result result. The seventh place finish caps off a successful weekend for Fletcher, who joined his teammate Billy Demong on Friday finishing sixth in the team sprint and twenty-third yesterday after a blistering third fastest cross country time.

“Bryan skied right up there and caught the lead group on the fourth lap. In the middle of the fourth lap he skied off and was able to have the fifth fastest time,” said U.S. head coach Dave Jarrett, “He skied with Joergen Graabak, who ultimately finished third, so it proves he was right there for a podium, but seventh is still good. It’s his career best individual result.”
