In this special episode of the Skiing is Believing podcast, Alan Rigg and Matt Garcka welcomed two of the brightest young ski racers on the World Cup circuit, Madeleine Sylvester-Davik and Rasmus Bakkevig.

Firstly, Matt, Alan, Madeleine, and Rasmus chatted about the impressive seasons that the Norwegian couple have both just enjoyed, both scoring their first World Cup points, in fact, both in the top twenty.

Bakkevig discussed his incredible breakthrough in 2025. Having been racing FIS events until the new year before he hit the Europa Cup podium and won as well in Turnau, Austria. He then took a World Junior Championship silver in Tarvisio and scored his first WC points on a magical day in Hafjell on home snow.

Madeleine and Rasmus both spoke about the extreme strength and depth of the Norwegian tech team, particularly with the next generation. The blend of experience and youth is impressive within Norway currently, with the leadership of more senior and successful members of the team.

Matt also asked about their aspirations for the upcoming season, where they both are hoping for more World Cup opportunities and are potentially aiming for a place in the home World Cup finals in Hafjell next March.

We also finished with a couples quick-fire special where Matt and Alan asked them questions about who is better at certain things, for example, best giant slalom racer and best cook. You can hear what Madeleine and Rasmus had to say about each other.
