School Overview
Rowland Hall is an independent school in Salt Lake City serving approximately 1,000 students in preschool through twelfth grade. Driven by our vision of developing people the world needs, we believe in a transformational education that gives students agency and purpose, connects them to their global community, and empowers them to make the world a better place for all.
Rowland Hall sets the standard for teaching and learning excellence through our academic and co-curricular programs, including experiential learning opportunities, artistic self-expression, and a competitive athletic program that challenges students inside and outside the classroom. We foster curiosity, compassion, joy throughout the learning process, and graduate young adults who know how to think critically and are inspired to make a difference.
Located near the base of the stunning Wasatch Mountain Range and adjacent to the University of Utah, a world-class research university and medical center, Rowland Hall attracts a diverse community of families. The school focuses on recruiting and retaining high-quality employees by offering extensive professional development opportunities, salaries that are competitive with local districts and market rates, and a close knit, supportive community.
Rowmark Ski Academy
In 1982, Rowmark Ski Academy was founded as a division of Rowland Hall. Just over three decades later, in 2014, Rowmark proudly became one of the first clubs designated for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s (USSS) highest Gold Certification level. Rowmark skiers are full-time students at Rowland Hall and are part of a progressive alpine skiing and racing program coupled with an extraordinary academic program from the lower school through the upper school.
At Rowmark, we foster a lifelong appreciation of alpine skiing and racing, in a positive learning environment tailor-made for athletes who are serious about skiing. The Junior Program develops versatile skiers who understand ski-racing basics and have a strong technical foundation in the sport. As they grow through our program, skiers become more self-reliant—we increase their level of competition, racing focus, and number of days on snow in order to prepare them for the Academy, if they wish to apply. Those admitted to the academy are part of a full-time, year-round ski racing program from the Intermountain Division of USSS to the Nor-Am level.
Academy and Junior Program skiers train at the state-of-the-art Utah Olympic Park alpine venues and Park City’s Eagle Race Arena, the Giant Slalom site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Rowmark skiers race in the Intermountain Division of the United States Ski Association. Our U10 and older teams also purchase Ikon passes, giving us local access to Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Deer Valley, and Snowbasin for world-class free skiing opportunities. Several Academy skiers have gone on to be World Cup, Olympic, and NCAA Champions. Rowland Hall is proud of our graduates’ skiing accomplishments and the careers they’ve chosen.
