Nyman back from short break to nurse back injury
Steven Nyman said he will compete this weekend in Val d'Isere after taking a short break to nurse a back injury he re-injured while racing at Kitzbuhel.
STEVEN NYMAN said he will compete this weekend in Val d'Isere after taking a short break to nurse a back injury he re-injured while racing at Kitzbuhel.
“I was able to work with a great doctor over here who I credit to making it able for me to race this weekend,” he told SR via e-mail from Val d’Isere. “Everyone in the U.S. said four weeks but he turned me around in one.”
It was last year at Val Gardena when Nyman first tweaked his back while going off a jump and then landing on his butt. Then he re-injured it again at Kitzbuhel about two weeks ago during a warm-up run, compressing his L4 and L5 vertebrae.
“I was stiff as a board,” he said.
In the second Val d’Isere downhill training run, Nyman placed 22nd. He didn’t race in the first training run on Wednesday.
“I tested the back on this course which is really bumpy and it held together,” he said.
