A staple of modern ski racing culture, Slalom Tokyo Drift, featuring the “best of the worst of ski racing,” was founded by Ian Macomber just over a decade ago. We talk with Ian about the blogging-beginnings, what it’s like to have a following of 156,000, his decision to go non-profit, his favorite World Cup athletes, and more (6:10). Jimmy was born in Boston, MA. He grew up on the slopes of Cannon Mountain and later Sugarbush--his family moved to Fayston, VT when he started attending the Green Mountain Valley School. He raced for Dartmouth College for a season and spent six years training with the US Ski Team. He is now competing on the World Cup, Europa Cup, and NorAm Cup circuits as an independent with World Racing Academy. On the side, he hosts the popular ski racing podcast, “Arc City.” He enjoys surfing small waves, touting the Northeast, and making silly videos.
