Wind in your hair, speed, good friends and even some friendly competition can bring out the smiles in just about anyone. Get ready for all of the above at this year’s Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR Regional Championships.

The Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR Regional Championships are a smaller – but just as much fun – version of the national championships held in three areas of the country. The races are open to any individual or team that wants to sign up. The regional championships serve as a qualifier for the national championships. Athletes can also qualify for the national championships with a top-five ranking at a resort, state or if you have a top-10 national ranking.

If you live on the East Coast, plan your trip to Okemo, Vt. for Jan. 27-28. On the West Coast, it’s Squaw Valley, Calif. on Feb. 4-5. And Midwesterners are just as lucky with their very own event at Welch Village, Minn. on Feb. 18-19. No matter which venue racers choose, they should be prepared for a weekend filled with parties, racing, live music and good times.

Giant slalom races are scheduled for the Saturday of each weekend, and the winners will compete in the Race of Champions on Sunday. Along with the Race of Champions, team competitions also take place on Sunday.

To top the races off, Olympian and U.S. Ski Team veteran Marco Sullivan will be competing in all the races.

“The Regional Championships are really an amazing opportunity for NASTAR competitors to gather their friends and family and not only celebrate ski racing with live music, great raffles and gift bags, but also with an Olympian,” said Bill Madsen, director of NASTAR.

There will be an Awards and Racer Reception on the Saturday of each Regional Championships fueled with live music and raffle prizes for everyone.
