It is a good thing that Stifel US Alpine Team member Shiffrin is in excellent physical condition and that she can focus when exhausted. Her upcoming World Cup plan includes two downhills, one super-G, two giant slaloms, and two slaloms in ten days. The slaloms will take place in Špindlerův Mlýn where her World Cup career began. Oddly, the first time she was there, she didn’t qualify either day.

However, as everyone knows, with her next win, she will exceed the incomparable Lindsey Vonn’s total of 82 victories. If she wins four of the seven, she will tie Ingemar Stenmark’s 86 victories. While far from a given, it is certainly possible.  However, no matter what the outcome, Shiffrin consistently delivers an entertaining performance. Ski racing fans are fortunate to be able to watch such an elite athlete in their prime.

Undoubtedly, the drama will unfold one turn at a time. However, seven races, including 11 race runs in ten days, will offer plenty of turns to enjoy. Watching Shiffrin and the other amazing World Cup athletes execute the amazing is compelling and dramatic. What a great time to be a fan of the sport.
