The announcement of the press conference is straight forward: Thursday, Sept. 24, the U.S. Ski Team and two-time skiing World Cup champion and Olympic medalist Bode Miller will hold a joint press conference and global media teleconference where Bode will announce his decision on whether or not he will continue ski racing on the Audi FIS World Cup and seek to compete in his fourth Olympic Winter Games this season.

Participating will be Miller and the U.S. Ski Team’s Head Men’s Coach Sasha Rearick. The team’s involvement is telling as Miller chose to ski independently the past two seasons, divesting himself from team status, forming and running his own Team America. In 2008 the effort was successful by any measure. Statistically the most successful (31 wins) American World Cup ski racer in history he proceeded to win six World Cup races and his second overall title (the first came in 2005).

Last season, however, Miller struggled. He failed to win a single race and though Miller says he doesn’t race for results, the season definitely did not provide him with incentive. He skipped the last month of the World Cup tour and disbanded Team America.

Stay tuned for his announcement. Ski Racing will have a man at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the press conference at 11am local time to bring you the news on Miller and the ski team and their intent for the 2010 Olympic season.
