Just one-tenth of a second kept Jewell out of the final round. After two World Cup podiums last year, he is looking to this Olympic qualifying year to make a satement.
Adam Smith and Chris Klug also showed signs of progress, finishing 11th and 14th, respectively.
The team, including boardercross athletes, will now travel to Arosa, Switzerland, for competitions Dec. 20-21.
