Who is skiing, when and how to watch the Saturday, February 10th women’s Soldeu World Cup GS
Get ready for the exhilarating Women’s World Cup Giant Slalom in Soldeu Andorra! After a spectacular showing at last season’s World Cup finals, Soldeu is heating up as a potential host for the 2029 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships. Don’t miss the action on Saturday, February 10th!
At the 2023 World Cup finals, Mikaela Shiffrin from the Stifel US Ski Team clinched the GS victory. But this time, Shiffrin is sidelined due to an injury sustained in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Joining her on the injury list is Canadian Valérie Grenier, who’s out for the season with a fractured humerus, a torn ACL, and a partial MCL tear.
The spotlight now falls on Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami, leading the Women’s GS season standings with an impressive 585 World Cup GS points. With a healthy lead over Italy’s Federica Brignone and Sweden’s Sara Hector, Gut-Behrami is poised for a podium finish.
While Shiffrin holds the 4th rank, her absence opens opportunities for rising stars like New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, ranked 5th. However, with Grenier and Petra Vlhová out for the season, the competition dynamics have shifted.

With only two races left in the Women’s World Cup GS regular season, time is running out for skiers to improve their ranks. Eight GS races have been held so far. Only the top 25 skiers will earn invitations to race in the finals. However, for those select few who qualify, there’s an additional opportunity to compete in one more race at the Saalbach World Cup finals. As the regular season comes to a close, the pressure is on athletes to secure their spots among the top contenders.
Fifty-seven athletes representing 16 countries are on the Soldeu Andorra World Cup GS start list.

North Americans
North America boasts promising talents in Paula Moltzan and AJ Hurt from the Stifle US Ski Team. Moltzan sits at a solid 12th rank, while Hurt, despite some challenges, holds the 17th position, showcasing immense potential.
Adding to the excitement is the emergence of young Canadian skiers like Britt Richardson, fresh off her GS title win at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships. Richardson, alongside teammate Cassidy Gray, brings a new wave of talent to the competition.
In a season marked by injuries, only five women have claimed victory in the eight GS races so far. With Gut-Behrami and Brignone leading the charge, Soldeu promises fierce competition, even in the absence of stalwarts like Shiffrin and Grenier. Get ready for heart-pounding action as the world’s best female skiers take on the challenging slopes of Soldeu Andorra!
