St. Moritz will pursue 2015 alpine worlds

Sep 04, 2008

Switzerland’s St. Moritz, after falling short in its bid to host the 2013 World Alpine Championships, will vie for the 2015 event, according to Hugo Wetzel, the president of St. Moritz Alpine Sports Events/Engadin.
With its renewed bid, St. Moritz is targeting three main goals – to consolidate its image and reputation as a world leader among alpine resorts, to take advantage of and continuously upgrade its mountain infrastructure, and to further develop its regional resources in volunteers and leading staff at regularly run World Cup events.
St. Moritz lost the 2013 race to Schladming, Austria. A successful bid for the 2015 Worlds would be a record fifth hosted by the resort after stops in 1934, 1948, 1974 and 2003.
