St. Louis, MO (November 10, 2024) — As part of its continued partnership with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Stifel held a financial workshop for athletes, coaches and staff last month at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard USANA Center of Excellence powered by iFIT highlighting financial best practices and educating individuals affiliated with the ski team on some of the basics of personal finance and investing.

The workshop was the first in a series of seminars planned by Stifel advisors providing athletes the opportunity to hear first-hand about ways to plan for their financial future. About three dozen attendees were on hand for the session, which was headlined by a welcome and appearance from Ron Kruszewski, Chairman and CEO of Stifel.

The presentation itself was led by Chris Nielsen, First Vice President at Stifel’s Park City, UT office and also featured Todd Newstead, Director, Project Management at Stifel in St. Louis, MO.

“It’s crucial for any young individual and especially athletes who spend so much focus and energy on their training and competitions to consider the importance of saving and different ways and the types of accounts in which to invest their money for the future,” said Nielsen. “We were pleased to provide the skiers in attendance with an initial broad overview and look forward to future sessions planned that will dive deeper.”

“Financial support from sponsors is great and obviously helps us reach our goals, but it’s so much more rewarding when a sponsor also shares their expertise and gets to know us on a deeper level,” said Rosie Brennan, a two-time Olympian, two-time World Cup winner and athlete on the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team. “It’s amazing that Stifel is not only bringing financial awareness to athletes on the team, but also providing advice, helping us prepare for the future and aiding us in making the most of what we have. I’m grateful to have personal help in navigating the financial world!”

A follow-up session to the first Finance 101 is planned for early spring after the winter competition ends.

“It was a pleasure to participate in this workshop and talk about fundamental topics like savings and investing, highlighting the power of compounding, long-term savings strategies, and understanding your investor profile,” added Newstead. “As an industry leader, Stifel is committed to empowering athletes with financial knowledge and connecting them with advisors who can provide personalized guidance and support. We’re excited to continue this initiative with future sessions that will further equip athletes with essential financial skills.”
