Aksel Lund Svindal made his alpine skiing World Cup debut in 2001. He retired from ski racing in 2019 with six Olympic medals, 80 World Cup podiums, 36 World Cup victories to his name, making him one of the most successful alpine ski racers of all time. Apparently, he missed going fast because just last week, 21 years after his WC ski racing debut, Svindal traveled to Hell, Norway to try his hand at rallycross.
The decorated ski racer donned a RedBull helmet and climbed into a race car on August 13, 2022. After the race, he reported on Instagram that he was involved in a crash. However, his equipment kept him safe. It turns out there are some similarities to ski racing, including the commonality of crashes.
If there is anything to gather from this story, it’s this: Svindal is still going fast.
