Aksel Lund Svindal completed his first real workout on skis since rupturing his Achilles tendon during dryland training in Oct. 2014.
He is in Innsbruck, Austria, and is very pleased to finally be able to ski again.
“I have trained well after surgery in October, and it is very motivating to be back on snow,” Svindal said after today’s session. “It is impossible to say how long it will take before I feel a hundred percent ready to compete. Therefore, it is completely open if I am ready for the World Championships in Vail in February.”
A physiotherapist from Olympiatoppen, Havard Moksnes, is with Svindal in Innsbruck and says he has made good progress.
“Aksel, as expected, had an impressive training session. This situation now is that we will increase the amount of exercise a little every day, without taking chances. Our focus is not the World Cup, but that he should use the time he needs to get back to his old self,” said Moksnes.
