The 24-year-old Swiss A-Team athlete Gian Luca Barandun was killed in a paragliding accident on Sunday morning.

Swiss-Ski is deeply shocked and saddened by the accidental death. “The Swiss-Ski family is thinking of the bereaved family at this difficult time,” says Markus Wolf, Managing Director of Swiss-Ski. “We extend our sincere condolences to them.” The entire association mourns the young ski racer.

Barandun had made 17 World Cup starts in his short career with a career-best ninth place coming in the 2017 alpine combined in Bormio, Italy.
