After launching the SYNC Athlete Fund in July of 2019, SYNC is proud to announce the final grant recipients for its second season.
The funds awarded to athletes will offset training and competition costs for the most promising and deserving athletes in the sport to help fill the funding gap as they strive for the highest levels of competition.
“After announcing the initiative, for the second year, applications poured in over the course of the application period and amounted to over 100 submissions by the close. We are thrilled to see such a strong group of up and coming athletes submit their applications from all across the country. This only validates the importance of this grant program and the financial obstacles that athletes are faced with in our sport,” said Kris Ochs, SYNC CFO and the fund’s program director.
SYNC Athlete Fund selects applicants based on three main factors: speed, financial need, and quality of responses to questions and letters of recommendation. After thorough review by the fund’s selection committee, 32 athletes were identified who best meet the fund’s criteria and would be most meaningfully impacted by support from the SYNC Athlete Fund.
“This group of recipients is an extremely strong group of athletes who continue to demonstrate an extraordinary drive to succeed, but struggle with the financial costs associated with alpine skiing,” added Ochs. “They come from teams and clubs across the country and range from up and coming U16s to current World Cup level athletes gunning for the top stop in competition. We look forward to their continued success this season, and are excited to support such a talented group of athletes.”
