In the latest episode of the Skiing is Believing podcast’s summer series, hosts Matt and Alan welcomed Aleix Linse, founder of The Edge Ski Team and Martin Fahrner, new coach of The Edge, to the show.
Linse’s career hopes
Linse shared his story as a Dutchman living in Switzerland, pursuing his ski racing career and how he created The Edge Ski Team to keep his dreams alive. The 25-year-old is hoping to go to a second World Championships in Crans Montana in February following his appearances at Saalbach 2025.
How they came together?
Fahrner was crucial in building and developing World Racing Academy, which now ceases to exist, but Aleix called Martin up and offered him another position with a global team. In this episode we hear Fahrner’s hopes and thoughts on the potential of the nine-man group called The Edge.
Fahrner’s World Cup experiences
Despite being one of the youngest coaches out there on the World Cup tour in recent seasons, Fahrner shares some of his experiences and expresses his ability to improve both the physical and mental conditions for this group.
In the last few seasons Martin has coached on the World and Europa Cup circuit with the likes of Canada’s Erik Read, Seigo Kato from Japan and Louis Muhlen-Schulte of Australia who is one of the new members of The Edge Ski Team.
Linse also discusses his long-term hopes for the team and despite avoiding comparison, how they may want to replicate teams like World Racing Academy and Team Global Racing who have enjoyed great success with a terrific group of athletes through the last decade.
The 26/27 roster
The 2026/27 The Edge Ski Team includes athletes from the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Australia, Hungary, Finland and Spain as well as having Fahrner and Latvian Davis Zvejnieks, a former World Cup top 30 athlete, holding the coaching roles.
