The Real World: Park City

We’ve all been there. Being young, broke, and living with your closest friends is practically a right of passage for those in their formative years. So the women of the U.S. Ski Team’s development group decided to go all-in this summer and not only train together at the Center of Excellence in Park City, Utah, but also live together in a condo at the base of Park City Mountain Resort.

“I have siblings, but we’re all a little more spaced out,” says development teamer Nellie Talbot . “I just feel like I spend more time with these guys than I do with my siblings because at least they would leave for school. We just go to the gym together, come back and eat together, sleep together; it’s just one big happy family.”

Sounds like a recipe for disaster, right? For another group of individuals, perhaps, but for this cohort of highly skilled and incredibly motivated athletes, it’s just another day in the journey of a development athlete on the U.S. Ski Team.

“It’s fun,” adds AJ Hurt. “I’ve never really done anything like this so it’s a new experience, but it’s cool to be around people that are very similar to me. They ski as much as me and we’re all in this together, so that’s cool.”

Although the development group is now back on snow training in the Southern Hemisphere, you can check out some of the action from our visit to their crib in the video below:
