Torino 2006 Olympic torch relay gets its own website{mosimage}The new version of the Internet site dedicated to the Torino 2006 Olympic Torch Relay is now online. The restyling of the graphics and the contents of www.fiammaolimpica.it provides, in a dynamic and engaging way, a lot of curiosities on this celebrated event, which for 64 days, will pass through every region and every province of Italy. The objective of the site is to inform everyone, also people in other countries, to make the Olympic Torch Relay of Torino 2006 more and more international, so, today navigators can visit the site in the Italian and also in the English versions.
A new interactive map lets site visitors discover the path that the Olympic Torch Relay will follow, starting on the 8th of December 2005 and ending in Torino on February 10th 2006, on its long journey through the cities that will have the honour of celebrating the passage of the sacred flame of Olympia.
On the site of the Olympic Torch Relay, enrolment is still open to become a torchbearer and have the honour of carrying the Torino 2006 torch. In this case all you have to do is fill in the application form you can find on the site, www.fiammaolimpica.it, with your personal data, correctly answer few questions on your knowledge of the Olympic Games and explain why you think you are suitable to become a torchbearer.
The new site layout gives you the chance to watch three short films that want to spread the spirit and the magic of this event, and you can find information about some of the most important torchbearers. The first of these will be Stefano Baldini, Marathon gold-medal winner last year at Athens. He will receive the Olympic flame from the hands of the President of the Republic Mr. Ciampi. Finally, the site’s information section has been extended and is now an even more complete source of information on the history of the various routes the Olympic Torch Relay has followed in the past, on the designs of the Olympic Torches, from the Berlin edition of 1936 up to next year’s edition designed by Pininfarina; the information also presents curious news and stories tied to this event.
