PARK CITY, Utah – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association has named Trisha Worthington as its executive vice president and chief development officer. According to USSA President and CEO Tiger Shaw, she will be responsible for fundraising to support USSA athletic programs through its U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation. The Foundation presently raises over $5 million annually and is a vital support mechanism for U.S. skiers and snowboarders.

“Trisha brings not only great knowledge on our organization, but insightful new ideas from her experience in growing the Park City Community Foundation. Private giving is our largest potential revenue growth area. We look for Trisha to bring leadership and innovation, creating new opportunities for fundraising that will help us enhance our athletic programs,” said Shaw. “I also commend Ruth Flanagan for her leadership that has grown our special events and recorded the greatest success in the history of the U.S. Ski Team Gold Pass program. She also just completed a very successful Team Sochi opportunity that allowed our key donors to share in the success of our 17 Olympic medalists.”

Shaw is looking to Worthington’s leadership to grow private giving through innovative new programs. She previously headed fundraising for the Foundation from 1995-2007, increasing its annual fund by $5 million and spearheading its $60 million Legacy Fund endowment, a portion of which funded the USSA Center of Excellence.

“I have great confidence in Tiger Shaw’s leadership and vision and am proud to join the USSA team again,” said Worthington. “The past seven years with the Park City Community Foundation have allowed me to expand my philanthropic knowledge and management skills, which will help me lead and further develop the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation to a new level of funding and support for our aspiring Olympic athletes. I’ve learned that the key is to create diverse fundraising opportunities and to connect donors to programs best suited to their passion.”

Worthington follows Ruth Flanagan, who will transition into focusing on major gifts, where she has been and will be a key driver. Her capabilities and relationships will ensure continued success and leadership within the Foundation. Flanagan was successful in growing the Foundation’s special events and achieving record levels of support through programs like the U.S. Ski Team Gold Pass and Team Sochi.

“Trisha brings great experience and knowledge to the Foundation. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Trisha and the Foundation to help the USSA’s athletes on their journey towards being Best in the World,” said Flanagan.

Worthington and her husband Trace, an Olympian and highly-decorated freestyle skier, live in Park City where they are raising two daughters.
